Gabriela Montero - Clair de Lune Debussy - (2/3)

Not that this isn't AMAZING-ly hard to do, but seems to lack some harmonic imagination. Entirely diatonic... kinda takes away from debussy's whole angle on music I think. A supreme technical acheivement however.

Anyone who plays an instrument will appreciate how incredibly difficult it is to do what shes doing. Most pianists train for decades and still cant do this on the fly. Bravo!

Is she actually taking Clair de Lune and making a counterpoint, Bach-like improvisation ON THE SPOT? I bet the old JSB would love to meet this brilliant young woman - he may actually find her to be more than a match at the improvisation game which he championed above anyone else at his time. That's the best compliment I can make to this pianist...

OMG!She's crazy! She literally improvises counterpoint! It almost sounds like a fugue. I can't do this even if I sit and think for 2 hours.
